Aspera Orchestrator is a web-based application and SDK platform that enables precise control over the Aspera high-performance file transfer environment. It allows organizations to build efficient, predictable file processing pipelines that interconnect business units and external partners. With Orchestrator, files can be directed, processed and redirected with easy-to-define rules based on an organization’s workflows and using existing IT infrastructure. Aspera automation streamlines complex workflows, integrates seamlessly with third-party plug-ins and ensures that each processing step is accurately performed.

There are many different tools used while creating content in today’s fast paced media and entertainment industry. These complex workflow pipelines can often introduce human error that can be very costly in both time and money to an organization. Aspera Orchestrator helps organizations fully automate their file processing workflows seamlessly between Aspera’s FASP High-Speed File transfer environment and other 3rd party applications and plugins. 


Related media assets are often bundled together with ADI metadata files that define the package’s contents. Aspera Orchestrator can be used to fully automate the process of inspecting these ADI files and updating the required media asset management databases after a file has arrived from a high-speed transfer.


During the media production process, there are many situations where a video master file needs to be made into a more compact version, in a different video codec, so that team members can conveniently review the video content. Using Aspera Orchestrator, a fully automated workflow can be built that detects that a file has been uploaded to a dropbox location, immediately initiate a quality check on the video file, transcode the file to a new format, and then distribute the file to all team members. 


There are times where user intervention is necessary during automated media workflows such as manual reordering of work queue priorities, visually inspecting a video file to ensure that it was encoded correctly, and to check if the file has been properly watermarked.  Aspera Orchestrator allows the addition of user notifications, workflow breakouts, and user prompts to be integrated seamlessly into workflows for extra human accountability.  


Preparing large batches of media files to send out to partners for foreign language translation and subtitling can be a tedious process, especially on compressed schedules. To ensure proper processing of media content, a user approval step can be inserted into any Aspera Orchestrator workflow for users to visually inspect the video file before it’s passed to partners.  


As the availability of high-speed collaboration tools become more prevalent in enterprise environments, safeguarding an organization’s intellectual property becomes more challenging for corporate IT teams.  The problem is two fold, not only do teams have to protect the organization from malicious exploits entering the network, but also against the unauthorized distribution of sensitive materials out of the network.  Aspera Orchestrator empowers organizations to build fully automated file transfer and file handling workflows that seamlessly integrate Virus scanning and Data Loss Prevention tools. 


Aspera Orchestrator can be used to fully automate the task of running corporate virus scanning software on files landed to a staging area in the corporate DMZ, and then initiate a transfer to securely move those files to an internal network location if it passes the scan.  This prevents malicious files from entering the internal corporate network during file submissions from business partners.


High-Speed file transfers in and out of an organization can potentially expose organizations to spreading malicious files and applications. Aspera Orchestrator has the ability to integrate common virus scanning software inline to Aspera’s FASP high-speed file transfers.  This helps IT professionals keep their organization and business partners safe from viruses and malware.  


As an organization grows, it becomes much more difficult to ensure that intellectual property and other sensitive materials are protected from being copied or sent outside the organization without authorization. Data Loss Prevention Solutions can help to identify and reduce data leakage using sophisticated content analysis. Aspera Orchestrator integrates with Symantec’s DLP Engine to scan outbound file transfers for sensitive materials, helping IT administrators seamlessly improve accountability and visibility of corporate assets. 


Aspera Orchestrator helps organizations leverage cloud computing and storage resources by automating business processes seamlessly between on-premises and on-cloud solutions.  Just by dropping a file into a local WatchFolder, the file can be quickly moved up onto cloud computing platforms using FASP technology, processed on elastic cloud software services, and then brought back down to an on-premises system, where the file can continue on a local workflow.  This empowers organizations to take advantage of quick resource scaling in the cloud, provide concurrency to workflows, and to take advantage of unique SaaS solutions.  


Uploading media content to Apple’s iTunes Store can be time consuming and tedious for content owners, especially if there are many large hi-definition video files within the collection. Aspera Orchestrator can be used to fully automate the process, reducing complexity and improving overall speed. Once files are dragged into a watch folder on the user’s system, automatic file integrity verification can be run followed by a FASP high-speed upload to the iTunes store. In addition, user notifications can be integrated to alert when corrupted files are found, transfer issues occur, or when successful upload has completed.  


A large influx of media processing workorders can fully load an organization’s internal transcoding capacity. By leveraging Aspera’s High-Speed file transfer and Orchestrator to send files to a SaaS transcoder running in the cloud, organizations can quickly improve processing speeds to meet necessary service levels and priorities. In addition, completed files can be archived to multiple storage infrastructures, both on-premises and on public or private cloud, using Aspera’s FASP Technology.
