Aspera and BASE Media Cloud win the prestigious IABM Design and Innovation Award
The winners of IABM’s highly prized Design & Innovation Awards were announced at IABM’s awards reception and ceremony on 10th September 2016 at the IBC Show in Amsterdam. The winners were selected from an extensive list of high quality submissions, and the judging was carried out by a panel of 40 independent, highly experienced industry professionals, each with specialist expertise in one or more of the award categories, chaired by John Ive, IABM Director of Technology and Strategic Insight.
BASE Media Cloud, one of the UK’s leading specialist providers of Managed Cloud Services for the media industry, and Aspera, an IBM company, were presented with the prestigious 2016 IABM Design & Innovation Award for best project, event or alternative product/service.
The highly respected broadcast industry award recognises the ground-breaking, cloud-based solutions provided in partnership by BASE Media Cloud and Aspera. Centred on the revolutionary new Aspera Files SaaS platform, the unique pay-as-you-go service offered by BASE Media Cloud empowers content owners to securely receive, store and distribute unlimited amounts of file-based broadcast content via easy-to-use self-service web portals.
“High volume of data traffic with accuracy has been a change that several companies are looking to accomplish,” commented the IABM. “This is a significant real-life implementation of cloud-based storage and workflow, which has been successfully used in an aggressive production environment.”
The service was deployed in January 2016 for the ground-breaking 2016 FIA Formula E electric vehicle racing series produced by Aurora Media Worldwide. The tailored cloud solution sees BASE Media Cloud and Aspera enabling the secure storage and transfer of full HD highlights programs, VT inserts, VoD clips and promotional films between rights holders, production teams, media partners and broadcasters around the world, seamlessly via the Internet.
