Aspera and Grass Valley Team Up to Offer Best-of-breed Workflow and Media Asset Management

September 11, 2009
ContentShare2 To Integrate High Performance Aspera Digital Transport for Efficient Movement of File-based Content.

EMERYVILLE, Calif. and IBC 2009, Amsterdam RAI (Hall 7 Stand G11) — September 11, 2009 — Aspera Inc. today announced the upcoming availability of a joint, high-performance workflow and media asset management solution with broadcast and professional video experts Grass Valley. The combination of Grass Valley’s ContentShare2 (CS2) and Aspera’s high-speed file transfer solutions delivers the best of workflow management and digital transport, enabling unprecedented productivity for virtually any broadcast or digital media application.

CS2 is a software solution created to interconnect new and legacy IT-based systems, helping integrate any facility’s digital workflow into a single, streamlined solution. Comprised of robust asset management framework and a powerful, highly flexible workflow engine, CS2 integrates Aspera software as its high-speed transport core. Aspera’s high-performance data transport technology comes into play when media assets need to be moved over wide area networks, delivering maximum transfer speed, regardless of distance, file size or network conditions. Sharing standards-based API for integration with and control of multiple assets within existing broadcast and media environments, CS2 and Aspera work hand-in-hand to deliver truly high-performance file-based workflow management.

For example, in a CS2 ingest-to-playout scenario, Aspera transport can be used to retrieve the source files from a data repository, deliver the final assets to playout servers and move them to archive, while providing larger workgroups with access to the content via an Aspera-enabled web portal.

“Moving large volumes of digital assets is at the heart of nearly all broadcast and media workflows today. The world’s leading film studios, post-production companies, visual effects houses, sports and news broadcasters, and electronic press services, already use Aspera software to reduce their production cycles and ultimately provide consumers with their best content, faster and more efficiently than ever before.” said Michelle Munson, Aspera President and Co-founder. “This collaboration between Grass Valley and Aspera is aimed at providing best-of-breed file-based media workflow management that delivers the highest level of performance, can be specifically tailored to any organization’s needs and alleviates the limitations and drawbacks of “one-size-fits-all” workflow offerings.”

The first ContentShare2 with Aspera (CS2+A) package will be available in the second half of 2009.
