Company Achieves New Milestone for Software Licenses and Number of Customers, Appoints Regional VP and New Distribution Partners in Asia

LAS VEGAS, NAB Show, Booth SL4114—April 12, 2010—Aspera, Inc., creators of next-generation software technologies that move the world’s digital assets at maximum speed regardless of file size, transfer distance or network conditions, today announced that it has achieved key customer milestones and further expansion in the Asia Pacific region.

With a record year of growth covering 900 enterprise customers and more than 10,000 software licenses deployed worldwide, Aspera is quickly becoming the standard for the high-speed movement of large files or data sets over wide area networks (WANs). To meet the growth opportunity in Asia Pacific, Aspera has appointed John Wastcoat as vice president of sales for Asia Pacific, and also signed new distribution partners in China, Korea, and Australia.

Wastcoat brings more than 10 years experience in global business development, with an extensive history in the Asia Pacific market. Prior to joining Aspera, he developed trade relationships between Japan and Pennsylvania for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, and led sales and business development efforts for leading companies in the telecommunications and IT space – including Dexrex and Cantata Technology. Fluent in Japanese, he also spent nearly two years at the American Embassy in Tokyo as an aide to then Ambassador Walter Mondale.

“John brings a strong combination of IT experience and knowledge of the Asia-Pacific market to Aspera, and he’s well positioned to build upon our initial success in the region,” said Cary Capece, senior vice president of sales and business development at Aspera. “We believe that with Aspera’s strong track record and John’s capabilities, Aspera will experience rapid growth in Asia-Pacific, as it has in the United States and Europe.”

Last month, Aspera formally introduced its array of software solutions for high-speed file transfer to the Chinese marketplace at the China Content Broadcasting Network Expo (CCBN) show in Beijing, where president Michelle Munson presented in conference sessions about file-based workflows and supporting technologies for the broadcast and digital media industries. At CCBN, Aspera exhibited with YingDigi, its new reseller in China that specializes in the digital media solutions for the broadcast, media, science and IT industries.

Aspera has also signed the following distribution new partners in Asia Pacific:

  • AustraliaDigistor caters for the technology requirements of Australia’s media industry.

  • Hong KongIdeal Systems is a systems integration company that provides solutions to Asia’s broadcast and media industries

  • South KoreaInsolsys is a leading supplier of data storage, transfer, protection and security solutions to the Korean research and development, telecommunications, manufacturing and aeronautical industries.

Global film studios, major broadcasters, sports leagues, government agencies, life sciences organizations and Fortune 500 corporations rely on Aspera solutions for the business and mission-critical transport of their digital assets – some of them moving in excess of one terabyte per day over their WAN infrastructure.
