TV Guide

TV Guide uses Aspera software to bring the Oscars red carpet coverage to consumers 'via Hulu and video-on-demand.

To help consumers get the best Oscars viewing experience, TV Guide Network is distributing, with the help of Aspera software, the highlights of itsLIVE on the Red Carpet with Lisa and Joey to Hulu and free on-demand cable channels.

In addition to its two-hour live telecast from Hollywood, TV Guide Network published its Oscars coverage content over the Internet for on-demand viewing. Aspera software allows TV Guide to simply drop completed media files – as large as 9GB or as small as 2.8MB – into a ‘hot folder’ for automatic push to pre-determined distributors, such as Hulu, at 4 to 7 times the speed of a real time transfer for 5MB files (up to 100 times the speed of a real time transfer for 300KB files). The content is then available for viewing to millions of Americans who watch television online or free video-on-demand on their home cable service.

By automating their media distribution workflow with Aspera, the TV Guide team is ensuring that their content is quickly and reliably distributed online, allowing them to focus on capturing the most compelling Oscar red carpet moments for all of their avid Award Season ‘09 viewers.
